Since its inception in 2001, RKDC has challenged the divide between dance and its audience. Our artistic approach engages the community by inviting them into the creative process while encouraging them to experience and make discoveries through dance. We also believe in uplifting local artists by commissioning original music, poetry, and visual art to create multi-layered works that investigate social, political, and personal narratives. As a female-led organization whose artists, staff, and board are 50% BIPOC and 80% women, we embrace diverse thoughts, backgrounds, ideas, and cultures. We believe in sharing knowledge, nurturing, and empowering young people and the next generation of artists in propelling our art form forward.
