Location: Wichita, KS
Regina Klenjoski Dance Company is assembling a team of Dance Instructors/Teaching Artists for our in studio youth dance classes, and weekly movement class for older adults. We welcome candidates with a wide range of dance expertise and teaching experiences. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a passion for dance education, youth empowerment, and possess professional dance and teaching experience. Experience creating inclusive classroom environments and teaching in a classroom setting is a plus. Bilingual artists and individuals from traditionally under-represented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.;
Available classes:
- Saturdays, 10 am-12:30 pm, 9 weeks starting September 25. Ballet Fundamentals ages 5-8, Youth Hip Hop ages 5-8, and Parent and Me Dance ages 2-4. Classes held at Wichita State University.
- Mondays, 1:00-1:45pm, ongoing, seated movement class for older adults. Class held at Ascension Living Hope.
General Responsibilities:
- Teaching: Instructing students in technique, safety, and correct form
- Creating lesson plans: Developing lesson plans and choreography, and customizing lessons to meet students’ needs
- Evaluating students: Assessing student performance and providing constructive feedback
- Helping students improve: Helping students develop strength, flexibility, and coordination, and helping them express themselves through dance
- Organizing performances: Organizing performances and monitoring students’ progress to help them improve as performers and individuals
- Creating a positive environment: Maintaining a positive and encouraging teaching environment
Qualifications – Education and Experience
- Minimum two years of teaching experience.
- Expert knowledge of at least one dance genre.
Professional and Technical Competencies:
- Support the philosophy and mission of RKDC
- Able to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Classroom management strategies.
- Lesson planning using an objective and outcomes based approach.
- Choreography
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to get to schools and community partners independently and reliably.
- Possess excellent organizational skills.
- Collaborate effectively with RKDC’s artistic director.
- Willingness to learn new things and eagerness to acquire new skills.
- Maintain positive and professional rapport with others.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to transport self and teaching materials to class locations.
- Demonstrate and maintain a high level of technical proficiency and physical ability in your respective dance genre.
- Own and transport sound system/portable speaker (Adult class only)
