About us

Regina Klenjoski Dance Company is a performing arts organization in Torrance, CA. Since 1999, Dancing with RKDC, the company’s education program, has instructed over 23,000 students. We value creativity and collaboration, we are student-centered, and our goal is to inspire and educate K-12 youth in the technical and performative art of dance.   Our classes take place at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center in the performance arts wing. We are a year-round program with 8-week sessions, 2 recitals per year, summer and winter camps/workshops, and three performance groups.

Pay & Hours: $25-30 per class/3-8 Classes per week
About the Position

We are looking for a friendly, personable, positive, detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys working with kids and is excited about joining a collaborative teaching and administrative team. Residing within 15-20 miles from Torrance is preferred. Classes take place on-site/indoors, in the cultural arts center dance studios. Applicants should not apply if they are seeking a short-term job. RKDC is interested in someone who seeks long-term work with aspirations to grow within the organization.

Teaching Responsibilities

• Creating thoughtful lesson plans that meet the level & developmental needs of the students.
• Creating choreography for classes & performances.
• Clear and professional communication with parents about upcoming events, recital, class progress.
• Costuming students for recitals.
• Attend all staff meetings (6 per year)
• Attending/work both recitals

Requirements

• BA/ BFA in dance is preferred (associate degrees, dance training, teaching experience, and current college students will be considered).
• At least 2 years of verifiable experience teaching dance to children.
• The ability to teach at least 2 genres of dance is preferred (ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, musical theatre).
• Loves working with kids of all levels.
• Reliable transportation and able to commit to commuting to Torrance 90503 area.
• Looking for long term work (at least 1 year or more).
• Have a current CPR/AED certification or willing to get certified. (Online programs OK).
• Other attributes: Team player, responsible, organized, excellent communicator, coachable, multitasker, excellent time management.

Dancing with RKDC administrative and teaching staff are hired as 1099 independent contractors.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
