Join us for a FREE creative writing and movement workshop that encourages participants to explore the idea of “JOY” in our lives.

We have all been experiencing a year filled with complicated obstacles that have shifted our lives in many ways. Regina Klenjoski and company are considering the question “How are we finding joy in this moment? Where does joy live in the body? How can participating in the arts be a catalyst for joy in our lives?” RKDC is exploring the concept of what Regina calls “Radical Joy,” and these workshops create opportunities for the company and our community to open up dialogue together through movement, creative writing, and conversation.

Starting with simple warm-up exercises designed for all abilities, movement educator, Regina Klenjoski guides participants into physical improvisations that open up the mind, the spirit, and the body. Celebrated Los Angeles poetry therapy facilitator Jennie Linthorst will guide participants in a creative writing process that reflects on our personal experience with joy and its existence in the world around us. The workshop culminates in a reflective discussion.

All ages, races, nationalities, and abilities are welcome. No experience in writing or dance is necessary — just bring a curiosity to reflect upon your story, courage to share with others, and willingness to join in a collective human experience.

Regina Klenjoski Dance Company is dedicated to nurturing the creative and collective power of our surrounding communities. We invite you to experience the unifying force of art in our world and know first-hand the compassion and empathy that art can foster.

These workshops are supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Wichita Arts Counci
