About The Intensive

Dive into the heart of contemporary dance this summer at the RKDC Summer Intensive, taking place at Wichita State University from July 15 to 19, 2024. Designed specifically for pre-professional / professional level dancers ages 18+, this program is your ticket to pushing boundaries, refining your technique, and expanding your creative horizons. Get ready for an intense week of contemporary dance technique classes, somatics, improvisation, and partnering. You’ll be working directly with the Artistic Director Regina Klenjoski and RKDC company members, learning RKDC repertory and engaging in a new work process. The classes and rehearsals are fast-paced and rigorous, designed to challenge advanced dancers to reach for the next level in their dancing. We value creating a space that’s about exploration, expression, and empowerment, allowing you to dive deep into your dance journey in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. If you’re ready to explore deeply and truly discover what makes you stand out as a dancer, then the RKDC Summer Intensive is where you need to be.

Housing:
Housing is available at Wichita State University’s Shocker Hall, a five-minute walk to the dance studio. Singles are available at $35/evening, doubles are $30/evening. Housing must be booked and paid for through RKDC by June 17, 2024. Email Anna at intensive@rkdc.org for more information and to book.

Scholarship Opportunities

RKDC grants a limited number of full and partial talent scholarships to its summer intensive. To be considered, you must submit a video audition.

How to apply for scholarship

To be considered for a scholarship, submit a link to a 3-5 minute video that includes the following: (1) A brief self-introduction, including your name and a concise overview of your previous training; (2) video excerpts that highlight your technical skills (barre and/or center class work); and (3) include 2-3 excerpts of phrase work, which could be in the form of improvisation or choreography, in studio or performance. Email your video submission to intensive@rkdc.org before May 6, 2024.
