CONVERGE II: NEW SPACES is a vibrant celebration of contemporary dance in the Midwest, uniting two premier dance companies to present original works across Kansas and Kansas City, MO. The project builds community among regional artists, expands creative approaches through cross-pollination, and partners with arts organizations in Wichita, Kansas City, and Lawrence to offer opportunities for Midwest audiences to engage with contemporary dance, an underrepresented art form in the region.

RKDC is excited to be in the studio working towards the creation of a new work “The Golden Apple.” We are exploring the subject of ecology through themes in a little known Macedonian fairytale “The Boy Who Hid in the Golden Apple.” The process is lead by RKDC’s Artistic Director and Choreographer Regina Klenjoski with dancers/performers Aviance Battles, Caleb Faer, Elleigh McClelland, Tim Portwood, Rile Reavis, and Rhiannon Vieyra.

Through an exploration of hidden joy, unbridled joy, and childhood joy, you will be treated to luscious, expansive movement performed by Elleigh McClelland, Max Mayerle, Heather Eilerts, and Rhiannon Vieyra. US is a continued development of a short dance film that premiered in Duets for My Valentine last February.
Duets for My Valentine is a collection of dance films exploring the multifaceted ‘dueting’ that exists in our world through our relationships with others, with ourselves, and with the things we love most.
